I must be doing something right, visits jumped to 3500 during December

This chart is downloaded directly from the servers of the Host Company 1&1 Ltd.

By unique visits this means visitors on a session basis but ignores them coming back so however many times you return, once its seen you and noted your IP code it ignores you until you go away and restart your computer thus getting a new IP. (Not broadband though there the IP code stays the same) On this basis then we are getting around 2000 visitors a month on average. Another chart gave page views within the site, it only counts a hit however when the whole page has been loaded and enough time elapsed before the next for it to have been read. It does not therefore count miss hits or pages surfed out of quickly as of no interest. The chart shows that on average 6000 pages are being read per month! There are other statistics which I can delve into to see which pages were most popular for instance and I will be using that to trim the site down. Most of our pages are read roughly equally but some are clearly of little or no interest. Some pages however get very busy indeed.

There are about 2000 people in Elsenham but not all have access to the Internet so there must now be a lot of interest outside the village. Some of this is ex-pats keeping in touch which is why we are keen to add an archive of the Village Magazine. The Magazine puts a copy into every household in the village so while we are serving a different distribution we are now roughly equal in scale. Our media however permits very different treatment of news and are therefore complimentary not competing.
