Elsenham Neighbourhood Watch
December 2006

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year and leave you with a few seasonal reminders.

This is the time when presents always look so attractive gathered around the base of the Christmas tree awaiting eager hands to open them. They are also very inviting to our old enemy, the opportunist thief so try not to leave Christmas presents on view through the window for all to see.
When shopping make sure you are aware of the whereabouts of your bag, purse or wallet, the pickpocket looks for ripe customers with both hands full and bulging pockets that are easily dipped.
Do not leave unattended bags or parcels. They most certainly will not be there when you return.
Try to avoid leaving Christmas shopping in an unattended vehicle or if unavoidable then lock them away in the boot or space where they cannot easily be seen.
Look out for people acting suspiciously in and around car parks especially multi-storey car parks, which are sometimes enclosed and poorly lit. If in doubt leave the vicinity and call for help from either the police or security staff.
On no account should you tackle these people yourself

Let your Christmas be a happy and merry one to remember.
