The flower show has become part of Elsenham Village life, I haven’t got all the history to hand but by writing this I hope to persuade somebody on the committee to do a proper write up. For now I’ll just upload the pictures and let you judge for yourselves the amount and quality of the work that goes into organising and making the event work.

The trophies have been donated to the society over a great many years and are a fine collection. The large shield is the main prize and resides normally in a cabinet in the foyer of the Village Hall,  to win it you must accumulate enough points from the various classes and sections to beat your rivals. If  you win it,  your name goes on a mini shield on it and you get a replica to keep. The other trophies are a mixture of cups, goblets, bowls, platters and medals. Its best to win the medals because the others have to be given back for the next Flower Show.

The winners but this year I had a problem. It would seem that in previous years the presentations have taken too long so this year it was a very fast process. To me however they were coming up so fast the flash and image processing was taking far too long so I had to switch off the flash and work with natural light. This caused shutter time to extend with the result that some of the very fast moving people got blurred. I deleted the worst and sharpened the rest via Photoshop to get the final result above, not too bad I think but sadly not good enough for enlargements.
