EMERGENCY PLAN

The Emergency Services have plans in place to deal with major emergencies of every conceivable type. In an emergency these are the trained personnel with the key facilities and equipment, so all other organisations and their plans are subordinate to them. Uttlesford also have plans in place to mobilise their resources in support of the emergency services and we are a part of those plans. The district is split into smaller areas and we are in sub-district 3 with its headquarters in Stansted. Each Parish Council has produced and maintains a plan of its own that links into all the others via periodic meetings and exchange of documents. Our plan can be accessed via the Internet here to avoid the printing and distribution of potentially huge stacks of paper plus the subsequent difficulty of finding them all to update them as things change.

Our Emergency Plan was initially produced by Cllr Mike Holmes and to do it he had access to the plans of many neighboring council’s and Uttlesford’s guidance documents. I now have up to date versions of many of them plus many more remote councils who have already published their work on the Internet.

However much we compare notes however our planning will always be based on speculation and guesswork but we are determined to be as ready as we possibly can be, we fully expect to be confronted by things we have not foreseen however so this document focusses on identifying the resources we have or could gain access to in an emergency.

I am now using Word format directly because conversion to protected PDF is not necessary, so because it is very time consuming I am no longer doing it. The reason its not necessary is of course whatever a recipient might do with it this web version cannot be altered and remains the master. I am however using Word format 2003 until I am sure everybody has upgraded to the current 2007 version.

If you need to print it please note that I will update it as and when I need to and so have now started to put a date on the front cover. If its been a while please check.
